The LifeTime® line of products was founded with a mission to manufacture products that people can trust with the highest quality and without compromise. No matter what single positive impression we continue to make for our products, we realize that at times our industry and, as a result, the LifeTime® brand may be faced with an indiscriminate amount of negative public perception fueled by negative press and unpredictable market occurrences. The fact is that our industry is evolving rapidly with new products, compelling science and greater education. As a result, our products have a much higher degree of relevance to society, for healthcare and for our consumers. With greater relevance comes greater scrutiny. This is a fact for business, our industry and for LifeTime®, and we embrace the responsibility of addressing any industry concerns over quality and safety as we continue to lead the way with new and innovative products.
As we have seen what appears to be an endless stream of negative press from the media concerning quality of goods from China spanning many industries and products including pet food, toothpaste and toys, it is important to realize that China remains a dominant force in the international supply arena. In light of these recent events, China has acknowledged that it may be a trade giant, but ineffective controls have kept it a quality weakling and are sapping competitiveness. Just as Japan was criticized after World War II for poor quality in its manufactured goods and was embroiled in negative public perception, China is now facing the same issues and is determined to emerge positively, just as Japan did in the past. Fundamentally, though, this is not a China issue, but a responsibility issue.
As we enter into our 20th year in the nutritional supplement industry, we are proud of the foundation we have established under the LifeTime® brand. Moreover, we have proven that foundation by acting responsibly in all aspects of our business. Every dietary supplement produced under the LifeTime® name carries a potency guarantee, which ensures that what is stated on the label is actually contained in the product. Every raw ingredient we use has an intended purpose, whether that ingredient is sourced in North or South America, Europe or the Far East. Furthermore, we design our products around one critical criterion: Are the purest ingredients available so that we can provide the best products for our customers? So, as supplement consumers continue to search for answers as to the origin of ingredients, we want them to know that every ingredient that comes into our manufacturing facilities is rigorously screened under rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control systems.
The QA/QC systems at our manufacturing facilities prevent impure or contaminated ingredients from even entering the manufacturing process. Our ability to safeguard the manufacturing of our products to ensure purity and potency is the core function of strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dietary supplements, as required under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. Our facilities are registered with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and are subject to scrutiny and audits in virtually every aspect of manufacturing including facility design and maintenance, raw material specification and control, supplier validation, product design and testing, purity, training, process control, finished product release, and complaint handling. All of this underscores an important fact that you cannot produce high quality products by inspecting them at the end of production. High quality results from a process of designing your manufacturing processes so that your products are built correctly in the first place. This is a long-term process requiring a continuous learning and improvement mindset.
Health is not about compromise.
