Did You Know?
There are three varieties of blood vessels: arteries, veins, and capillaries. During blood circulation, the arteries carry blood away from the heart. The capillaries connect the arteries to veins. Finally, the veins carry the blood back to the heart. If you took all of the blood vessels out of an average person, and laid them out in one line, the line would be around 60,000 miles long! Like almost everything else in our bodies, our veins are susceptible to deterioration with age, especially if we have a poor diet or inadequate exercise. This is particularly true of the veins in our legs, which have the difficult job of conducting blood upward against gravity’s relentless pull

What Exactly Are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are really just veins that have become enlarged with extra blood. Normally, veins are supposed to act as one-way valves and shouldn’t allow blood to flow back down the legs. But if a vein becomes weak, blood may flow backwards and collect in the vein, causing it to swell. These swollen veins are either spider or varicose veins. Spider veins are smaller and are usually red or blue in color. Researchers aren’t sure why some veins become varicose. Heredity is believed to play a part, as are hormones. That’s one of the reasons varicose veins may be more common in pregnancy.

Diosmin Complex Formula
LifeTime® Diosmin ComplexTM is a unique nutritional formula that may help to support healthy veins, delivering natural ingredients that have been used clinically in Europe for over twenty years. Diosmin and Hesperidin, two extensively studied powerful flavonoids found in many plants, are the two main ingredients in LifeTime® Diosmin ComplexTM. These ingredients act as veinotropic agents and as vasculoprotective compounds which could increase the capillary resistance of blood vessels, support vein tonicity and decrease capillary permeability. Doubleblind, placebo-controlled studies of diosmin and hesperidin have demonstrated that the duo might provide significant nutritional support for healthy legs and feet, and may ameliorate heaviness and restlessness in the legs, discomfort, heat sensation, swelling (edema), and night cramps.

Synergistic Herbal Support
In addition to the powerful benefits of diosmin and hesperidin, LifeTime® Diosmin ComplexTM delivers several complementary herbs that work synergistically to provide even more nutritional support for healthy legs and feet. Horse chestnut may support the vessels of the circulatory system and is believed to strengthen and tone the veins in particular. Horse chestnut is popular throughout Europe for the nutritional support it might provide for hemorrhoids – which are no more than varicose veins of the anus and rectum. Horse chestnut may also soothe sports injuries... and could promote wound healing. Dandelion is a diuretic that may be of great assistance if water retention causes ankle or leg swelling. One of the safest and most popular medicinal herbs, dandelion is believed to support and strengthen the entire body – especially the liver and gallbladder – but is most commonly used to help reduce swelling associated with water retention. Butcher’s broom is believed to improve vein tone and encourage blood flow. It may improve symptoms of poor circulation such as blood pooling in the legs, swelling and constricted blood vessels.* Gotu Kola is a tropical herb used in Ayurvedic medicine that may help promote healthy connective tissue and supple, flexible veins. Gotu Kola is also believed to support healthy blood flow and may benefit the entire circulatory system.* Only LifeTime® Diosmin ComplexTM delivers the unique range of powerful nutritional support:

• Provides a complete complex formula by combining diosmin and hesperidin with four other well-known herbs for supporting healthy circulation, wound healing, elasticity and tone of vascular tissue.*

• May support capillary resistance of blood vessels, vein tonicity and capillary permeability.*

• May act as an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant.* May promote wound-healing.*

• Provides natural support for improving elasticity & tone of vascular tissue, especially in the legs.*

• May support circulation in the lower limbs.*
